How to replace engine and wheel bearings?

Engine and wheel bearing replacement is a basic skill that needs to be done correctly, if the new bearing is damaged during installation, you can by damaging a bearing during installation to end up in a worse situation then if you had done nothing. Some great tips are shown in the video, let’s review a couple of biggies:
1. Make sure you apply force on the correct side on the bearing. Remember the ” inny outy rule”, installing a bearing in a hole push on the outside of the bearing. Installing a bearing on a shaft push on the inside of the bearing. It’s just that simple.
2. Make sure you know where that axle spacer is before you install the second bearing.
3. Be careful not to damage the shields on a sealed bearing, if dented or damaged that can ruin the bearing quickly.

  1. [...] Rebuilding the bottom end of your motorcycle can be a imposing task. I know mechanics that take their engines to an “engine guy-motor builder” and won’t take their own engines apart for repair. Your engine is just a gearbox, with attached air pump. One great tip I can give you, “got a cell phone then take pictures as your motor comes apart”.
