The first big thing you will realize after your first motocross race

You’ve got your first motocross race in already. Hey, wasn’t that motocross race a memorable experience. What was the first thing that really surprised you. My experience has taught me that it is one big thing..

My God how fast do these people go!!!!

Big eye opener wasn’t that.

The years may fly past, but then so do the other riders.

Yes after a while you realize that the pace you go in a race is far different than what you all practiced at.

Now the trick is to transfer your knowledge of what race pace is to practice pace.   Say what?  I am trying to say that you need to practice at that race pace.   Expand your comfort zone to include the techniques and speed that was shown to you during your first race.   Top racers such as Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed or Ryan Dungey see their competition using techniques that are faster, they learn.

Practice doesn’t make perfect, Perfect practice makes perfect.   Ride with good technique at all times.

Make sure you use good technique for turning and jumping at all times.   Get used to being on the gas at all times.    Get comfortable at speed.

Starts are key to getting good results.

STARTS ARE KEY

Think that guy with the holeshot is going to do well, don’t you?

Practice your starts often, like every time you can.   If possible race start practice with others.

One of the big things to remember is to increase your speed gradually.  One thing you want to do especially for older vet motocross riders is avoid injury.

Use your head!!!!

And let’s have fun out there!!!!
